The Southampton University String Orchestra invites you to attend their annual winter concert, where old and new combine to create a magical musical celebration! Join us for the public premier of SUStrings member Luke Gosling’s Lament, alongside the well-known Abdelazer suite by Purcell and Elgar’s enchanting Serenade for Strings
We’ll be ending in style with a selection of movements from Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, arranged for string orchestra by member Calum Burgess. This afternoon concert will be held at 2:30pm on Sunday 29th November in St. Edmund’s RC Church (complete with warming interval treats!).
SUStrings is a friendly and active string orchestra which was founded to provide string musicians the opportunity to play an extensive and varied repertoire for string orchestra. There are no auditions and anyone who plays the violin, viola, cello or double bass to Grade 5 or above is welcome. We rehearse weekly and perform at least one concert per term and one tour per academic year.
